5 Of The Best Binge Worthy Shows You Need To See

B ingeing is by this point the primary mode of consuming TV shows in the modern era. Binge-worthy TV shows were something we always wanted to watch but barely did due to limited access. Now, with the prevalence of video subscription services, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu etc, binge watching has become an inherent part of our lifestyle. According to a Netflix survey, 73% of people who watch TV shows online consume up to 2-6 episodes per day. If you count yourself amongst these people or at least you want to be, here are 5 best binge-worthy shows you must see.

The Boys

Available on Amazon Prime

Have you ever wondered what a world would look like if there was a Superman in it but he was a psychopathic corporate tool? Well, that is the question that The Boys aims to answer. The Boys follows the story of a group of vigilantes that try to expose Vought Industries, an American conglomerate whose employees are some of the most powerful superheroes in the world. It follows how these employees routinely break the law because they have the political and corporate backing to do so.  This show is extremely dark and gritty, and definitely not to be watched by the weak of heart but is at the same time an interesting reflection of modern day celebrity/influencer culture.

Breaking Bad

Available on Netflix

Breaking Bad is considered by many as an era defining TV show which completely masters the art of long form storytelling. The plot follows the Story of Walter White, an ordinary high school chemistry teacher who gets diagnosed with cancer. In his quest to leave something behind for his family, he ends up becoming the biggest drug kingpin in New Mexico. What is amazing about this show is that it does not do something extraordinary with it but rather aims to tap into the psychology behind resorting to a life of crime. The progression of the story is pretty slow paced but you are always constantly at the edge of your seat, thanks in all parts to the phenomenal acting of all cast members involved.

Community

Available on Netflix and Hulu

If you are looking for something lighthearted for a change, we recommend this comedy show centered around the lives of a community college study group. The story is pretty simple; it is just a group of community college students from all areas of life that study together to help each other get through college. However, there is something much more at play here. You eventually see these individuals go from absolutely hating each other to forming extremely wholesome and meaningful relationships. Each character has something loveable about them and the affection for them only grows as we see them evolve and grow as people.

The Good Place

Available on Netflix

Another light-hearted entry, The Good Place follows a deceased young girl, who leads an extremely morally-corrupt life, that accidentally ends up in heaven after she dies. This leads to a quest of trying to become a better person so that she can blend in with people in heaven because if the authorities find out what a horrible person she really was, she would be removed from that heaven and sent to hell.  Luckily for her, there is a brilliant professor of ethics to help her in her journey towards becoming a good person. This TV show has major comfort show potential but at the same time offers a decent amount of critique of what world we live in today.

Squid Games

Available on Netflix

You don't need us to tell you this show is amazing, you just need to open your Twitter to know that it is truly one of the most definitive works of art of this generation. It is a Korean TV show but the language barrier will not stop you loving the dark and depressing elements of the story. It follows around 456 people, all in serious financial debt, that are forced to take part in children’s games for a chance of 45.6 Billion Won.

Conclusion

So here are some of the best binge-worthy shows you need to watch at all costs. If you follow this list, you are sure to have at least a couple of months of absolute bliss.
